Turn About Is Fair Play

In an interesting turn of events, the company behind the Kazaa P2P software has filed a federal lawsuit against the major entertainment companies for copyright infringement.

He who lives by the bottom-feeding, ambulance-chasing scumbag, dies by the bottom-feeding, ambulance-chasing scumbag.

The sad thing about the RIAA's attempt to sue back the technology clock is that consumers lose, artists lose, nothing will be solved, and the only people who will win are the damn lawyers who will collect huge sums of cash for their craft.

Work Benefits

I had to attend an hour presentation at the ol' job today regarding a "restructuring" of our medical benefits. Basically, the company has decided to overhaul the beneifts (translation: we get less) and rework our personal contributions (translation: we pay more). The meeting started off with a video from the company CEO, where he talked about the value of the employees and how the employee demographic has changed.

Of course, it would have been more to the point for the video to start out with the following:

To make a long story short, the company is trying to push everyone into an HMO to save costs. I can understand the company's plight, as the once mostly single and 20-something workforce has now become a married-with-children-and-30-something workforce. Still, HMO? I don't know how trusting I am. I like the idea of being to see anyone I want.
